Men Seni Suyemin is the nom de plume of Minona Volandova -- a classically trained guitarist and producer from Kazakhstan. Pitchfork described her latest 'HOPE' EP (June 2022) as "a candy-coated take on industrial techno" and "[like] cruising through a neon tunnel, yet Volandova's pieces give off warmth rather than dystopian chill." Her debut album, BELIEVE, is slated for release in June on 2MR.

The word “believe” encapsulates Men Seni Suyemin’s attitude toward everything; to the world, to herself, to her listeners, to the events that happen around the globe. Despite the seemingly never-ending stream of depressing news from the outside world, she continues to believe that music gives us the power to overcome violence and darkness in our minds.

Men Seni Suyemin’s debut album ‘BELIEVE’ encapsulates this feeling. The album contains more lyrics than in her previous releases; there are positive songs containing affirmations, but also songs about love — a “dedication of thoughts to people who have inspired me to feel the best feelings, but who also allowed me to experience the other side of love, anxiety and fear.”

Sonically, the album features light guitar music (Men Seni Suyemin is classically trained) intertwined with mysterious national motifs — “A melancholy through which faith emerges,” she says. “Music that reflects many different moods. Each track wants to be there for you at certain moments in your life.”
